The Genuine Militia Pin comes from Valve’s physical collectible pin series, where a real-world pin included a redeemable code for the matching in-game display item. Once that code is redeemed on a Steam account, the in-game pin becomes Genuine and stays tied to that account. Most players now obtain one by buying an already-redeemed collectible on the Steam Community Market or other approved marketplaces if it is tradeable.

The Death Sentence Pin is a different collectible pin in CS2 with its own artwork and in-game icon, separate from the Genuine Militia Pin. The main difference is theme rather than function: both are profile collectibles, but the Militia Pin references the classic Militia map, while Death Sentence uses a prison-themed design. Availability and market pricing can differ based on how many redeemed examples are in circulation.

Genuine pin codes are one-time redemption codes that originally came with official physical CS:GO and CS2 collectible pins sold by Valve or at Major events. Redeeming a code grants the matching in-game pin as a Genuine item on your Steam account. Because each code can only be used once, unused codes are uncommon and buyers should be careful with third-party listings.
