2023 Service Medal

The 2023 Service Medal is a collectible item awarded to players who reached Global General Rank 40 during the 2023 service year and chose to reset their Profile Rank. It is not a weapon skin, so it does not have wear, patterns, or StatTrak variants. Its main purpose is to mark yearly progression on your CS2 account.

To get the 2023 Service Medal, you had to reach Profile Rank 40 during the 2023 medal year and then claim the medal by resetting your rank. After the reset, your Profile Rank returned to 1 and the medal was added to your inventory. If you continued leveling again within the same year, the medal could be upgraded to higher color tiers.

Like other yearly Service Medals, the 2023 Service Medal had multiple upgrade tiers, with each tier represented by a different color. The highest level is the final red tier, which requires repeated progression after the initial medal claim during the same service year. Reaching that version takes substantially more XP than earning the base medal.

The time needed depends on how consistently you earn XP from official matchmaking and other supported game modes. Getting to Rank 40 for the base 2023 Service Medal usually takes regular play over weeks or months, while upgrading it to later color tiers takes much longer because each tier requires another full rank cycle. Weekly XP bonus timing also has a major effect on progression speed.

The colors show how many times a player progressed through the yearly rank cycle after earning the medal. The base medal starts at the first tier, and each additional full climb to Rank 40 within 2023 upgraded it to the next color. The red version represents the highest upgrade tier available for that year.
