2015 Service Medal

The 2015 Service Medal is a collectible profile medal awarded to players who reached Global General Rank 40 during 2015 and chose to reset their Profile Rank. It is not a weapon skin, cannot be equipped on a gun, and appears on a player's profile as proof they completed that yearly rank cycle.

You can no longer earn the 2015 Service Medal through normal gameplay because it was tied to reaching Rank 40 during the 2015 service year. Players originally obtained it by hitting Global General Rank 40 and then claiming the medal, which reset their Profile Rank back to 1 for the next cycle.

Service Medal colors indicate how many times a player completed the yearly Rank 40 cycle within that service year. For the 2015 Service Medal, higher color tiers meant the player earned and upgraded that year's medal multiple times, so the color reflects repeated rank resets rather than a separate item.

The highest level for a yearly Service Medal like the 2015 version is the top color tier awarded after multiple Rank 40 resets in the same year. In practice, the medal upgraded through several colors, with the final tier representing the maximum number of completions Valve allowed for that service year.
